What did you make?
I made simple table runners that looked like a road for my son's 2nd birthday party. The theme was "construction." The table runner was a super easy, no sew project.
I bought black felt fabric and cut 15" x 6' pieces. Then I cut yellow ribbon into about 3" pieces for the line on the "road" and used tacky glue to keep them in place.
I also made a simple "bump" sign out of yellow felt and black puffy paint. I glued this onto an apron from the hardware store right on the part where my pregnant belly popped out.
Tell us more about it.
Both the "bump" apron and the road table runner were my original ideas, and I did not copy anyone. (Editor's Note: Readers can see more about the construction party June threw for her son at June's Forecast.)Lessons Learned
- I learned that it doesn't take a lot of money to make a party special.
- You don't have to be an artist to pull these two party ideas off.
Megan Cooley, Kids' Parties & Celebrations Guide, says:
How clever, June! That table runner is such an easy way to make a big visual impact at a construction party. And your "bump" apron is hilarious. Makes me wonder what other ways expectant moms could tie their bellies into various party themes.
