Hee haw! I was thrilled when my youngest daughter decided on a horse birthday theme as she approached age 3. What fun to go cowboy (and cowgirl) for a day!
This was one of the fastest parties I've thrown together, but it also ended up being one of the most fun. That just goes to show that you don't have to stress out for your kids' birthday parties. Just do what you can, abandon what you don't have time for, relax and enjoy.
Here was the party agenda: Pony rides at 5 p.m. Dinner (sandwiches, apples, "happy trails" mix and chips) at 6 p.m. Craft activity at 6:30 p.m. Open presents at 6:45 p.m. Cake and the happy birthday song at 7 p.m. A viewing of the movie Flicka after that, and then general running round inside and outside once everyone lost interest in the movie. Finally, Pin the Tail on the Donkey at 8:30 p.m. and everyone headed home by 9.
Take a look at these photos from the day and check out my article on throwing a horse party, too.
