Jessica Levitt's son, Theo, loves to build things, so when he turned 2 she threw a construction birthday party for him at their home.
Jessica, who writes the blog Juicy Bits, made several of the party decorations herself, including a bunting that read "Happy Birthday Theo," barricades that greeted guests in the driveway and tool-shaped cookies Theo sent home with his friends as favors.
The party details were all tied to the theme, from the brown, orange and yellow balloons to the toy dump trucks that held snacks on the food table.
The big surprise came when a local landscaper Jessica had hired pulled up to the party in his backhoe and gave the kids rides up and down the driveway. Later that day, as Jessica put Theo down for his nap and asked him what he did at his party, he sighed and replied, "I drove Bob the Builder.”
