The academy awards are glamorous, entertaining and exciting - for adults, anyway. For kids, however, the actual viewing of the event can be kind of boring. If you're planning an Oscar night party that includes young guests, you may want to incorporate some kid-friendly elements into the evening.

This popcorn cake, for instance, is just one way to perk up the fun factor. Perhaps the kids can enjoy a slice while they watch their own movies or play games in another room, out of earshot of all of those long-winded acceptance speeches. You could even turn the room into their own personal movie theater, with the help of a projector shined onto a wall. Or, if you're lucky enough to live in a climate that allows, set them up in the backyard for an outdoor movie party.

Invite kids to celebrate with some ideas from this Lights! Camera! Action! party theme. Of course, they can also participate in some of the same fun elements as those at the grown-up Academy Awards viewing party before heading to their own fun event.

As for the popcorn cake, I'm sure the kids would be happy dine on that alone, but fortunately, there are more ideas for kid-friendly Oscar-themed foods to include on the party menu.

And since the Academy awards run late into the night, perhaps the kids can dress in their very best, most fashionable pajamas, so they will be all ready for bed when Oscar night comes to a close.
