Games to Play on Thanksgiving Day

I remember when I was a kid, Thanksgiving dinner was always held at our house. I also remember that every relative who came was the about the same age as my grandmother, which meant a lot of chat about things kids don't really care to chat about. This made me thankful I had three siblings with which to make up our own fun. And that's just what we did, often playing games or staging our own sing along in the kitchen while the grown-ups lingered around the dining table.

Now that I have kids of my own, I feel thankful that they have a bunch of cousins with which to spend holidays and create their own memories. Most of the time, they play together quite nicely on their own, but on holidays, I like to add something special to the mix - something that combines fun with the theme of the occasion.

With Turkey Day fast approaching, I've come up with some Thanksgiving games that will work well to keep them entertained - and laughing - as they wait for the bird to cook, or in that lapse between dinner and dessert.

Perhaps some of these games will be a welcome addition to your Thanksgiving Day celebration. Or maybe you already have children's activities that are a part of your family's tradition. If so, we'd love to know about them! Please comment and share your ideas with other readers.
