I have to admit that Valentine's Day kind of sneaked up on me this year. Sure, we dressed the dining table in a love-patterned cloth and hung that sparkly heart wreath on the door, but after that, we moved on to worrying about other things, like report cards and snow storms. It wasn't until my third-grader came home with a list of classmates for those who want to send in cards or treats that I realized it was time to start thinking about how we will celebrate Valentine's Day.
I guess I wasn't alone, since, as I counted the number of names on the list, my daughter announced that none of the parents have signed up to send in something for the classroom party. So, I contacted the class mom and volunteered to send in a snack. Yes, the night before Valentine's Day will find me baking 24 surprise heart cupcakes. Now, I just have to come up with some take-home gifts for her classmates.
After considering several ideas I've put together a collection of some of my favorite Valentine's gifts for classmates. From these pencil-through-the-heart crafts to cupcake recipes to treat-filled goody bags, there's a little sweet something for everyone.
