It's the last weekend before Thanksgiving; time to double check those grocery lists and dash out for that last pumpkin pie. While filling your cart with Thanksgiving dinner items, don't forget to toss in some ideas for the kids. With so many preparations to manage, it can be easy to overlook the smallest of guests. Fortunately, there are several ways to include them, even at the last minute.
These Mayflower bread boats, for instance, are a simple way to add fun and flair to the kids' table. Created by Lisa Moore, all they require is a loaf of bread, a knife and the food you're already serving. Moore suggests personalizing the sails (made of recycled cereal boxes), which means these can also be used as place cards. Even better, no dishes to clean up!
Speaking of the kids' table, here are some last minute ideas for some kid-friendly table decorations.
And since they don't all enjoy watching football, how about some Thanksgiving-themed games to play or a Thanksgiving movie for kids to watch in between courses?
A Thanksgiving story is another way to entertain the kids while incorporating a little bit of the holiday's history. Gather them for a read aloud session over some apple pie, or print the lyrics to one of these Thanksgiving songs for kids and have a little sing-along.
