Yesterday, I mentioned the new place on the kids' parties site where readers can submit pictures and information about party invitations they've either made or purchased.
One of the first submissions came from a Los Angeles party planning and design service called Send in the Clowns.
Their adorable invitations for a farm-themed party were inspired by those canisters we probably all had as kids that made cow and sheep noises when you turned them upside down. As CEO Leesa Zelken put it, these invitations start mooing before you even get them out of the box. What a fun way to announce a party!
Their nontraditional invitations got me thinking about other creative, non-paper invitations you can send.
Check out the seashell invites that blogger Vanessa of Silly Eagle Books made for her daughter Juliet's mermaid-themed party. Vanessa simply wrote the party details on the smooth side of a seashell using a permanent ink marker.
What are other ways to announce a party without paper?
For a teen or tween's karaoke-themed party, how about sending CDs you've burned with your child's favorite music. Just write the party details on the CD with a permanent ink marker or print out a CD cover sticker.
For a kids-in-the-kitchen party, deliver a homemade cookie to each guest with the party details written on a napkin.
For a pirate party, purchase or make eye patches, write the party details on a sticker and place the sticker inside the patch so the kids see it right as they're about to try on the patch.
Hosting a day of pampering for young girls? Purchase inexpensive flip flops, such as the disposable kind you wear at a spa after having a pedicure, and write the party details on the foam using a permanent ink pen or attach a small card with the information.
What ideas do you have for unique party invitations?

Thanks for the link! I added my seashell invites to your submission site.
