If you're new here, you might not know yet that I'm a total sap. I get choked up during the National Anthem. I cry reading books to my kids (I almost didn't make it through the last few chapters of Charlotte's Web). And forget about taking me to a movie. The last one I saw in the theater was Up and I was a goner after the first 10 minutes.
So it should be of no surprise that I'm drying my eyes after reading about how one mom spent her birthday with her kids.
Robyn Bomar, of Mix Mingle Glow, decided to perform 38 random acts of kindness (one for every year of her life) throughout the day.
Good golly, here come the tears again.
Here are a few of her good deeds:
- 8. "Bought a gift card for groceries and turned around and handed it to woman in line behind me. I wasn't prepared for the look on her face."
- 10. "Dropped off several handwritten thank you notes and donuts at the police station."
- 18. "Took art supplies to the Family Waiting Room of labor and delivery floor of the hospital for new big brothers and sisters to be."
- 32. "Took plates of cookies to two neighbors I don't really know and spent some time talking with them."
Visit her post to see how the whole day went.
I turn 36 in June. Thanks to Robyn, I already know how I want to celebrate.
P.S. Wouldn't this make a great birthday theme for kids? I can see a group of tweens or teens spending the first part of the party organizing supplies, writing thank you notes, etc., and then either going through the neighborhood or being driven around town, working their way through their lists.

Hi Megan. Thank you so much for featuring my blog post in this article. I continue to be amazed at the response that single day is still receiving. It was a blessing beyond belief and I wish I could relive it over and over again!
I hope it inspires others to do something similar.
Warmly,
Robyn
Thank YOU, Robyn, for stopping by. You definitely inspired me. My husband and I were brainstorming my list of birthday RAKs last night!
